The only peer-reviewed, open-access AERA SIG journal, dedicated to promotion of and access to information about urban education for practitioners, scholars, and the public.

The Journal publishes research articles focused on all aspects of urban education on a rolling submission basis.Our new section, Commentaries & Perspectives, showcases research-supported “think pieces” -- shorter than a full research article but have a timely, perhaps personal, focus from urban education scholars and practitioners.

The Journal of Urban Learning, Teaching, and Research’s scholarship is made possible through the American Educational Research Association (AERA) Urban Learning, Teaching, and Research Special Interest Group.

About the JULTR

For 10 years, we have published scholarship about urban education for and from teachers, researchers, and graduate students. We are committed to equitable practices, access to information, and high-quality, peer-reviewed scholarship.We provide the opportunity to revise and resubmit pieces as long as as necessary to give new authors the chance to publish in a peer-reviewed outlet.Additionally, we have a Mentor Network to supports submissions that may need additional support to be ready for publication.
